NEED TO FILL

The Arabica coffee tree has not had an adequate position in the Vietnamese coffee industry over the past 30 years. This article, iguide.aiwill share with you information about this tea tree species in Vietnam!
Since the 1980s, the coffee industry has not had measures to prevent pests and diseases for tea coffee, so it has had a policy of expanding the area of Robusta coffee on red basalt soils in the Central Highlands provinces. Up to now, every year Vietnam has produced about 1 million tons of coffee of all kinds, mainly robusta coffee and is the world's leading country in this coffee output, on the contrary, tea coffee only accounts for the largest proportion. very low importance in the Vietnamese coffee industry.
Coffee (Coffea arabica) was previously widely grown in the North with the main strain being Typica, and partly Bourbon. However, because of the harmful effects of pests, mainly white stem borer (xylotrechins quadrpes chev) also known as Bore worm and rust disease (caused by the fungus Hemileria Vvastatrix), Vietnam has not been included in the development plan. In the past 20 years, due to the positive results of breeding work, with the birth of the Catimor tea coffee tree (a cross between Timor Hybrid and Caturra) that has the ability to resist rust disease, we have raise the issue of expanding the area of coffee and tea.
From the Catimor F6 coffee plant that was put into production in 1996, Vietnam continues to research and hybridize and introduce high-yield coffee varieties with large seed size and drinkable water quality. Improved compared to Catimor like TN1 and TN2 varieties. Up to now, coffee and tea plants have received attention from many localities, and have been included in development plans and have achieved certain results. In Vietnam, coffee trees are currently distributed in three regions: Northwest coffee region, Central region, and Central Highlands coffee region.
Northwest coffee and tea region
Northwest Vietnam is a region with complex divided terrain, including a number of medium and high mountains surrounding large and small basins, including plateaus such as Son La plateau, Moc Chau plateau... Hoang Lien Son runs in one block in the Northwest - Southeast direction like a wall dividing the Northwest into two climate zones: eastern Hoang Lien Son and western Hoang Lien Son. Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La are provinces in Tay Hoang Lien Son, a low mountainous area with an altitude of 500 to 1500 m hidden behind the Hoang Lien Son range, very convenient for coffee and tea cultivation.
At the same time, when mentioning the Northwest, we can also mention the territory located on the right bank of the Red River in the two provinces of Lao Cai and Yen Bai. Yen Bai highland districts such as Tran Yen, Tram Tan... these are the most viable coffee and tea cultivation areas.
Central region coffee and tea - Rich tradition
Connecting with the Northwest coffee and tea region is the central region with two large regions: Thanh Nghe Tinh, mainly Nghe An, and Binh Tri Thien, mainly Quang Tri. These two regions are demarcated by the Hoanh Son mountain range of the Truong Son range north of the sea and connecting the two regions is the famous Ngang Pass.
Central Highlands coffee and tea region and its advantages
Through Hai Van Pass to the south, the hot and humid tropical climate here is very suitable for Robusta coffee. And this is the area that develops half a million hectares of robusta coffee in our country, and brings our country to the top position in robusta coffee production globally.
However, throughout this vast southern geographical region, there are still areas with specific climates suitable for coffee and tea plants. The factor that creates these coffee and tea regions is the altitude above sea level. The most typical is the Lam Dong coffee and tea region. In addition to Lam Dong, we can also mention a number of other highland areas such as Kon Plong, Kon Tum province, Dak Nong province and even Vinh Son region, Binh Dinh province, Vietnam.
Above is some information about Vietnamese Che coffee so you can have more useful and interesting information about this unique and delicious type of coffee.
