Types of hot air balloons

Currently, there are two popular types of hot air balloons in use, such as hot air balloons and cold air balloons. The height of these types of hot air balloons can vary depending on the intended use and specific design. 

1. Hot Air Balloon

This type of hot air balloon works by pumping hot air into the air thruster, creating internal force to fly. Hot gas is produced by burning fuel such as diesel or gas in the combustion unit, and is then directed into the gas thruster.

The height of a thermal balloon can reach approximately 3,000 – 4,500 meters (9,800 – 14,800 feet).

2. Gas Balloon

This type of hot air balloon uses cold air, usually noble gas or hydrogen, to create internal force. Cold air has a greater density than the surrounding air, creating lift for the balloon to float.

Normally, cold air balloons do not have a fuel source like thermal balloons, but the cold air is kept in a compartment inside the balloon's cover.

Cold air balloons can reach very high heights, in some cases up to tens of thousands of meters (from 10,000 - 20,000 meters, depending on the design and capacity of the balloon).

You should note that the maximum height a hot air balloon can reach also depends on many different factors such as the volume of materials, balloon capacity, weather conditions and flight safety regulations. .
