When thinking about the Central Highlands, many people often unconsciously think of a dry, grass-burning land, especially hot and harsh in the summer.

But I have a promise to myself, that I will always return to Buon Me Thuot in the summer. The great summer has a strange attraction that cannot be found anywhere else: majestic waterfalls, gurgling streams, gentle river water filled with flying butterflies.

If you are not too adventurous, you can still fully experience these beauties when going down Gia Long waterfall - one of the most famous waterfalls here. You will still be able to climb mountains, admire the scenery, row a boat and touch the majestic waterfall of the Central Highlands, at a pace just "slow" enough to "feel" all its beauty.

About Gia Long waterfall

Dak Lak and Dak Nong are only separated by a bridge running over the Serepok river. On this flow, it has created famous waterfalls such as Dray Nur waterfall, Dray Sap waterfall, and a waterfall located between the border of both provinces, is Gia Long waterfall.

The original name of Gia Long was Dray Sap Thuong, until King Bao Dai happened to visit and was impressed by its beauty, so he used the name of the Nguyen Dynasty king Gia Long to name the waterfall. The interesting thing about this waterfall is that each of its banks belongs to two different provinces: One side of Dak Lak and the other side of Dak Nong. Both banks can admire the beauty of the falls from different angles.

This characteristic of the waterfall is also associated with an ancient story: Legend has it that in the past, the Serepok River was just a normal small stream flowing around the village, then it became the boundary separating the two villages here. . There was a couple in two villages who loved each other, but their love was both geographically separated and forbidden by both families. Having no other choice, the two of them threw themselves into the river to be together forever. Since then, this place often had big waves, gradually separating the river into two different branches, and one of those two branches created upper Dray Sap - or Gia Long - today.

By 1993, this waterfall was recognized as a national landscape. Among the countless beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam, Gia Long or Dray Sap Thuong are not too big or long but have a very unique beauty. It is located in the middle of a vast green space, with a year-round white waterfall pouring down like silk, with blurred smoke, mixed with ancient rock outcrops shaped like mysterious animals and many ancient folk legends. The scenery at Gia Long waterfall is both a bit wild, but also very relaxing and brings a feeling of peace.
