NEED TO FILL

Ly Trieu Quoc Su Pagoda was formerly known as the temple, located in Chan Cam village, Tu Thap of Tien Tuc canton, Tho Xuong district, belonging to Thang Long capital. The pagoda's name is "Ly Trieu Quoc Su Tu". The temple is currently at house number 50, Ly Quoc Su street, Hang Trong ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
Ly Quoc Su Temple or Tien Thi Temple, was built during the Ly Dynasty to worship national teacher Minh Khong. His surname is Nguyen, Huy Chi Thanh was born on August 14, Binh Ngo year, the first year of Long Chuong Thien Tu, Ly Thanh Tong dynasty (1066) in Diem Xa village, Truong Yen district (now Quoc Thanh village, Gia Thang commune, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province).
At the age of 11 (1077), he said goodbye to his parents and dedicated himself to becoming a monk and practicing Buddhism, seeking enlightenment with Zen Master Tu Dao Hanh. He was praised by the teacher for his talent and intelligence and confirmed that he would later become a "Dharma weapon" in Zen. , given the dharma name Minh Khong, 13th generation of the Vinitaruci lineage. After a long period of time studying with his teacher, he realized the emptiness of Prajna, and returned to become the abbot of Giao Thuy Pagoda (Nam Dinh). Not only was he a great master of Buddhist knowledge, admired by the monks and nuns, his reputation also resonated far and wide and was respected by the king. In May 1131, King Ly Than Tong personally ordered a house to be built for him (Dai Viet history). Complete book, volume 1 - Social Science Publishing House, 1983, p. The house where the National Master often stayed when returning to the capital to treat the king, mandarins and common people was also the location of Tien Thi temple later.
Legend has it that while he was still studying Buddhism, while walking in the forest, Zen Master Dao Hanh turned into a tiger and threatened him, saying: "If you want that, you will definitely have to suffer such retribution in the future." Tu Dao Hanh regretted: "In the past, the World-Honored One created the perfect fruit and still had to suffer the retribution of gold and dew, not to mention that when I was born in the time of the end of dharma, I couldn't avoid it. In my next life, I will be the ruler of the country and will receive this retribution. You and I have a relationship between teacher and student, then you will save me." After Zen Master Dao Hanh transformed, he was reincarnated as Duong Hoan, the son of Sung Hien Marquis, who was beloved by King Nhan Tong as Crown Prince and succeeded to the throne as Emperor Than Tong. Not long after ascending the throne, in March 1136, King Ly Than Tong became seriously ill, hair grew all over his body, roared like a tiger all day, talented physicians were summoned to treat him, but his illness did not improve. Master Minh Khong was the one who cured the king's illness. After recovering from his illness, impressed by his talent, King Ly Than Tong appointed him National Teacher and waived service taxes for several hundred households. In the national history, it is also recorded that: "Traditionally, when monk Tu Dao Hanh was about to die, while sick, he took medicine to recite mantras and then handed it over to his student Nguyen Chi Thanh, also known as Minh Khong, telling him that 20 years later, if he saw the country, If the king has a strange illness, he should immediately come and treat it, perhaps this is the case."
On August 1, the 2nd year of Dai Dinh - Tan Dau (1141), after giving blessings to his disciples, the National Master peacefully sat down at Giao Thuy Pagoda, at the age of 76. To remember his gratitude, King Ly Anh Tong and his people built a temple to worship him at Tien Thi temple (formerly the monastery that King Than Tong gave him). Not only when he was still alive but even when he was transformed, he always protected the country and saved the people. Complete history of Dai Viet records: "National teacher Minh Khong is very flexible. Every time there is a disaster, drought or flood, praying for an island will be successful." After nearly 9 centuries, people still worship with incense and smoke, praying for the island to be blessed.
In 1930, Venerable Thich Thanh Dinh from Quang Huy came to be the abbot, added statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva and changed the temple to "Ly Trieu Quoc Su" pagoda. Along with the upheavals of history, the passage of time has caused the temple to no longer retain its original appearance and has been preserved and preserved by many predecessors. There are still traces of two major repairs, which were in the spring of the year Giap Dan, the 3rd year of Duong Duc (1674) in the Later Le period, and the typical relics left behind are a system of beautiful statues carved in stone. including statues of National Master Minh Khong's father and mother, statues of Zen Master Tu Dao Hanh and Zen Master Giac Hai. These are typical works for this type of statue in the treasury of Vietnamese sculpture art. Another remaining relic also dating back to the Later Le Dynasty is a stone pillar in front of the yard, on the top of the roof is the statue of Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara along with Thien Tai and Dragon Lady. XVII.
The second major restoration of Tien Thi Temple was in 1855. Over time, all construction items were termite-ridden, damaged and seriously degraded. Since 1992, with the support of the central and local authorities, along with the contributions of Buddhists and people, the pagoda has gradually repaired items such as the Tang Kinh house, the Mother Palace, and the To Duong. …
On June 5, 2000, construction officially began to restore Dai Hung Bao Palace.
